Teachers are in a unique position of power and influence upon future generations of Canadians. As educators, it is important we answer the call to incorporate indigenous epistemologies, decolonize education, and support reconciliation, specifically Call to Action 63. The beliefs embedded within the First People’s Principles of Learning (FPPL) add value to all curriculum and enhance individual philosophy of teaching. “Creating teaching and learning environments that reflect the FPPL has as much to do with an educator’s philosophy about education, and disposition, as it has to do with curricular content. The disposition includes patience, respect, and curiosity” (Jo-Anne L. Chrona, 2014). These qualities will always enhance the learning experiences of students.
